Images by the Bay Area family portrait photographer Scott Mosher of the Kunz family at Sanborn County Park.  We spent a little over an hour at the park having their family portraits done at various locations around the park.  I love this park and its a great location for portraits (or a picnic).  Its off Hwy 9 and is sort of in the middle of nowhere.

This was the 2nd coldest portrait session I’ve done.  I believe it was around 15 degrees or so and we spent a little less than half the time outside.  The coldest was the next night when I did a quick mini session of my sisters family on their backyard ice rink.  That portrait session was 5 degrees.

I met up with a few people for the sole purpose of me trying out some new stuff.  I wanted to push myself a little bit to build on what I had learned over the past year, which was a ton.  Some ideas we were not able to do due to the fact we wanted to get out of the cold!

We met up at City Creek Center, which is across the street from the Salt Lake City Temple.

Images by the San Jose family portrait photographer Scott Mosher of the Barney family at Sanborn County Park in Saragota, CA.  I was introduced to the Kissingers by my wife & they mentioned they’d love to have some family portraits done.  We headed up to Sanborn County Park in the hills above Saratoga in the San Francisco Bay Area for their session.  The park has tons of grass and trees, and I think is a great place for portraits.

I was able to meet up with the Moshers at their house in Gilroy for their family portraits.  I knew for this session I wanted to get both candid portraits of them playing together & enjoying each other as well as some nice formal ones as well.

While the baby was getting a snack I took their oldest outside to get some extra portraits of just her.  Since she loves to run I thought that would be a good theme for her.

I met up with the Rudd family for their Santa Cruz family portrait session at Natural Bridges State Beach in Santa Cruz.  This was the second time I had been to Natural Bridges and the first time doing family portraits there.

We started off our session at the path leading to where the Monarch Butterflies hang out during parts of the winter.  There was a nice wood path that we followed for a short distance.  We did some family portraits there in addition to some candid/fun ones of the kids playing around.

I was contacted to photograph this birthday party at the Fandorin restaurant on the waterfront in Burlingame.  The event was great and there was tons of chances for some candid as well as family photographs.  The birthday girl was surprised by the fact it was a surprise party, as well as there was a couple groups of people that flew in for the event.

The beginning of the night we all hung out and waited for the birthday girl to arrive.  Then we all sat down to eat tons and tons of food in addition to listening to the speeches and toasts that was given.  A slideshow was also shown with images of the birthday girl when she was younger.

After dinner had finished most of the group headed out to the dance floor where I was able to get some great candids of people dancing to a live band.

I was able to meet up with the Marrs again for a quick mini session with a couple of the kids.  It was a cold family /individual portrait session up at Santa Teresa County Park in South San Jose.  Due to the cold we did a few semi candid/posed images.

Jenna and me had to postpone their shoot previously due to rain.  As luck would have it, we were supposed to take their photos on a rainy day as it was wet & stormy on the day of their session.

We headed out to Fort Point in San Francisco for their portrait session.  Fort Point is a old military fort under the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge in the Presidio in San Francisco.  We spent an hour or so inside the fort and then we moved to the other side of the bridge for a few final portraits.  We had perfect timing as we finished our session as the rain started.

The Liau’s contacted me about getting their family portraits done in San Jose sometime after Thanksgiving.  We were able to set up a time to head out to the Japanese Friendship Gardens for a mini session with their family.  I guess everyone else had the same idea as the place was packed!

This was probably one of the quickest mini sessions I’ve photographed.  We headed up to Sanborn County Park in the hills above Saratoga, CA for their mini family portrait session.  We get there to find it a little windy, rainy/drizzly, and very cold.  We got as many shots as we could before the coldness was starting to show in the images.  Overall though we had a great time and came out with some great family photos.
