I went out with the Lynch kids (well kid #1 and her niece) for a portrait session at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We headed to Santa Cruz looking forward to warm temps, clear skies, and fun on the rides. Instead we were greeted with overcast skies, cold temps, and some wind. But towards the end we got some sunlight & a couple rides in. I realized while standing in line for the Big Dipper that I hadn’t been on a ride at the boardwalk since 2000.
We ended up starting at the far side of the Boardwalk and wandered around different places taking their portraits. We ended up warming up/taking game pictures in the arcade. We ended our shoot near/under the pier next to the Boardwalk.
This was an international engagement session. If I remember the story correctly, Laura is from Brazil, and now lives in Canada. Steven is from Canada and is out in the Bay Area for work temporarily. Our paths collided at Gray Whale Cove Beach in Pacifica. Images by the Bay Area Engagement Photographer Scott Mosher.
We all came to the beach expecting the nice valley weather we had been having, which was around 70-80 degrees. Driving through Pacifica it was nice and warm, but once I got out of the tunnel on Hwy 1 I was greeted with fog, clouds, cold, and A LOT of wind. When I mean a lot of wind, I’m talking wind that blows the sand so hard it scraps your skin. During our engagement session on the beach we were able to capture a variety of images from climbing rocks, laying in the sand, and me getting nice & dirty. When I pulled up to the parking lot and got out of my car at In n Out burger after I shook my pants and I swear half the beach sand came out.
